Sley the Dent

indigo

Last week, I got to participate in Indigo Dye Day at the home of a member of the Weavers’ Guild of Boston.  (Thanks Deb!!)  It was such a beautiful day and it was great to see everyone. There were huge vats of indigo for the cellulose fibers and vats for the wool fibers. Indigo is such a smelly and magical dye. I brought one cotton inkle warp, one large piece of cotton fabric, and seven silk scarves. All these were stitched, tied, bound, or wrapped (aka Shibori) to produce resist designs, places where the blue indigo dye would not attach itself to the fibers.  (Click the pics for a larger view.)

Here is my Leaves scarf, sewn and bound, before dyeing.

Here is half the completed scarf. I really like how it came out.
